‘Linsanity’ back in motion?

There’s nothing more devastating than hitting ‘rock bottom’ after the peak, which is why the ex-NBA star Jeremy Lin had a hard time coping after the glorious period of his career ended, commonly dubbed ‘Linsanity’. Within one season playing for the New York Knicks, the basketballer went from almost being cut from his team to being the star player. He put up 14.6 points and 6.2 assists per game, garnering him global attention and jump-starting his NBA career, where he bounced around from team to team over nine years in the league.
“I remember going into that upcoming season and I was like, this is everything I’ve waited for, this is everything I’ve dreamed for. That first season came and I had three straight hamstring injuries and missed 60 games and again I was devastated.”
Due to the injury aforementioned and more, he missed over a hundred games and eventually got ‘DNPed (Did Not Play)’. Last summer, he was let go by the Toronto Raptors, then he found himself out of the NBA when no team decided to sign him as a free agent.
“I was just so ashamed because everything I worked so hard to achieve I started to lose. I lost my starting position, I lost a lot of endorsements and I lost a lot of the popularity.” “it got to the point where I was so ashamed to even walk outside, I didn’t even want to leave my house, I didn’t want to go on my social media, I didn’t want to go on ESPN.”
In August 2019 he signed with the Beijing Ducks. In his debut in the CBA (Chinese Basketball Association), he dropped (scored) 40 points and helped Beijing reach the semi-finals.
After one season, Lin decided not to return to the CBA. “Every hooper knows, you miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take,” Jeremy Lin wrote on Instagram after the play-off run ended, looking back on his first season in China. ” You also miss 100 per cent of the dreams you don’t chase.”
“This isn’t about chasing the shadow of Linsanity, money or proving people wrong” He’s simply chasing the NBA dream again.
